An incredible eye for detail was what impressed me most for example matching the spindles at the bottom of the house with the loft conversion so that there was a real flow to the house. We have used Berry Construction to do our loft conversion in Tooting through a recommendation and were left very happy with the quality of work and professionalism of the builders: Tomas was very attentive to our needs and even tried to work around nap time of our 1 year old boy not to make too much noise. Having already done one loft conversion on a terraced house in Clapham using one of the pile-'em-high-sell-'em-cheap outfits, we decided we wanted to work with a builder more concerned with doing a quality job than stripping everything out and keeping the price rock bottom and maximising their cut. We did our research to make sure we made the right decision and chose Berry after a number of conversations with various conversion companies. The price was fair for the work to be done and in line with other quotes we received. Dan was very personable, knowledgeable and brought various members of the build team round to see the job before they began to ensure we could achieve the result we wanted, set our expectations and make sure everyone was clear on how the build would develop. We liked that they are a small tight-knit team and got to know them all very well. The fact they turned up every day for the entire build was a promising sign and set them well apart from the last team we worked with. They also gave us a lot of time and support during the build, accommodated a number of design tweaks and even came up with a few very sensible changes of their own. They used better quality materials than we were used to from the last project and the work done by all the trades - carpentry, roofing, plastering, plumbing and electrics - is excellent. All the guys who worked on the project were friendly, courteous, skilled and regularly went the extra mile to make it a more pleasant experience and help us achieve a quality and long-lasting result. Dan and his team converted our loft in Streatham Hill a few years ago. They did a brilliant job and we are totally satisfied with the work. It is not unusual for people to look at the unusual triangular window at the front of the house and comment positively. Everything was done to a high standard and the guys were all consummate professionals with a real pride in their work. A couple of years later Berry replaced some windows (nothing to do with the loft) and again we were really happy. The windows were not straightforward and I could not praise them more highly. We are delighted with our loft conversion, both in terms of the craftsmanship & finish and also because the experience of doing a major project was a positive one. Berry Construction were excellent to work with- professional at all times with highly skilled tradesmen with good communication skills & flexibility. We felt we had a very high end service for a fair price. Dan takes a genuine interest in doing a good job and going the extra mile. He was always at the end of the phone if we needed him. Head builder Gytis (and his team) was very hard working and showed exceptional attention to detail. All snagging issues were sorted out very quickly. We are delighted with our experience and would wholeheartedly recommend.

When we decided to have our attic converted, we wanted a high quality finish, but as importantly, a reliable team and someone with whom we could communicate well on a regular basis. We were very glad to have chosen Dan. From the moment we met him, we found him to be a really good listener, an honest communicator and a solution finder. During the build, we always felt confident in Dan. He was intuitive and understood what our needs were, ensuring that these were met in full by his team. He was fastidious in his quality control and we would have no hesitation in going straight back to him if we had any other building work, big or small.

We interviewed a number of potential firms for our loft conversion and we decided that Dan was not only competitive on price but he was also enthusiastic and interested in looking to provide what we wanted rather than simply deliver a straightforward "generic" loft conversion. He took great care to work with us to figure out the plans to turn a potentially difficult layout for our loft into something that fitted naturally with the feel of the original property and also met our needs. Dan was sensitive to the requirements of carrying out work in a conservation area and ensuring the end result fitted with the character of our house, particularly in terms of his recommendations for design, finishing and materials. Dan was responsive and attentive to detail and made sure that we were happy with the work along the way. He was also fully committed to finding the right person for the various other jobs that we sent in his direction, from finding a stonemason for external stonework to matching original internal plasterwork, and he took great pride in the excellent work of his team of carpenters and other specialists. His team of specialists were always cheery, extremely hardworking and helpful, often eschewing offers of cups of tea in favour of getting on with the job! Even during the most destructive phase of the building work they were fastidiously tidy and careful. Dan's attention to detail was similarly keen and he worked hard to minimise any disruption to the rest of the house during the process. We are really happy with all the work. We will certainly be in contact with Dan for any future work we need and we would also recommend him without hesitation.

I’d thought of converting my loft for years, but the project always seemed quite daunting and too easy to put off. Daniel Berry and his team took the stress I’d feared out of the job by offering good and thorough advice on all aspects, large or small, and promptly dealing with issues throughout the process. Our flat was still full of our things, the washing machine was out of order, the second bedroom needed repainting, our new tenants wanted to move in in seven days, and we were in another time zone. Dan and Giacomo took it all in hand, and were outstanding. Everything was handled as we would have wanted it to be, including all the unforeseen complications, such as the discovery that the washing machine had been boxed in by the foolish contractor who completed the previous kitchen renovations, and the fact that the water stopcock had rusted tight in the open position. Communication was excellent. The tenants moved in on time, and were extremely pleased. Berry’s charges were very reasonable, and presented in a straightforward way. Moving to Sydney and renting out two properties in London could have been a total nightmare, and very nearly was when one of the properties developed four or five issues in the space of a couple of months. Dan handled the tenants so well they now call him 'Dan the Man', and also kept the costs of repairs so reasonable that even this Yorkshireman was very pleased! Better than being there myself! Having this type of project is always going to be stressful however it was great to feel involved in the decisions and be guided by a really supportive team. We are delighted with the standard and quality of the work and the team have finished everything to a really high standard. We would definitely use them again in the future.

Berry Construction recently converted our 2 bed victorian terrace into a three bed and redecorated existing bedrooms and repointed the front of the house. Throughout the process Mr Berry was pro active in communicating the progress of the project with updates and alerting us to the next steps. The work was to a high standard and came in below other quotes. Any change in variable costs were emailed over by his helpful assistant to forewarn us and with rationale as to their movement. We could not recommend Dan and his team highly enough. The project for our extension was a lengthy one and from day one they were incredibly supportive and helpful, coming to our second house viewing when we were looking for advice on the costs if we bought it, right through to follow up on the smallest of details like the final coat of paint on the coving. The thing that will always stand out from Dan's work is the quality. The house looks just amazing now and they've created a fantastic extension knocking through the small galley kitchen and old dining room into a huge kitchen/diner that goes back an additional 3.5m. The team were absolutely wonderful too. Being a woman alone in the house, I always valued the fact that I felt safe with his team. They also kept the process with our neighbours as easy as possible, making sure our adjoining neighbour was happy along with those overlooking us. We had absolutely no complaints. A massive thank you to Dan and all his team who helped us along the way....we would not have wanted to do it without you!

Dan was extremely helpful for us earlier this year when we were in the process of buying a house. We had had an offer accepted on a house but brought Dan in to do some due diligence on the roof. He was able to advise us that the roof needed replacing, which we subsequently factored into our negotiations (we ultimately withdrew and dodged a big bullet). Since we were living in the house during the works, the builders did an amazing job at minimising any possible disruption to our daily lives. Berry Construction (UK) did some maintenance on our Clapham flat in preparation for new tenants. We are very happy with the quality of work and the helpful and punctual nature of the decorator. We had a short timescale with the old tenants moving out and the new tenants moving in and Dan was extremely helpful getting the work done in time. The quality of the work was excellent, and best of all the decorator was extremely professional and very organised. He secured the paint, brought all the right tools and was very clean and tidy. We wanted to expand our two bedroom bungalow to fit in a growing family without having to move house. We had some fairly tricky design ideas for how to do that to make the conversion look as attractive as possible, which several other firms had either turned their noses up or looked slightly terrified at. From the start, Dan and his team worked with us to make the conversion what we wanted and not simply what was easiest for them. The team were unfailingly polite, hard working and – within the bounds possible on such a big piece of work – very clean. Dan paid close attention to any issues that cropped up and we are all delighted with the result. The house has been transformed – and very much for the better.

Not only was their pricing competitive, but I was impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of the decorator.
